Covers and the synopsis for Boom! Studios’ Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Issue #20 comic have been released!
And in a press release with IGN, Boom! Studios announced that the issue will introduce the first ever team of Power Rangers – a team that existed far before the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!
It turns out that Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy, and Trini weren’t the original team of Power Rangers. That revelation will be the subject of a standalone tale in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #20 by Kyle Higgins and artist Daniele Di Nicuolo from publisher BOOM! Studios, which takes us back to 1969 to meet the original squad.
•Igor – 21, male, Soviet KGB agent
•Jamie – 24, female, British singer/songwriter
•Terona – 21, male, war veteran
•Daniel – 18, male, student/protestor
•Grace – 21, female, head secretary at NASA and wannabe astronaut
An image of the Power Rangers from 1969 has not yet been released.
The issue, written by Kyle Higgins, will release in October 2017. Fans can find the official synopsis below with the covers following.
An eye-opening new piece of Power Rangers history is revealed! Well before Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy, and Trini became Power Rangers, Zordon was forced to recruit Rangers to battle a foe who’s downright…psycho.

I don’t know if I agree with there being a Power Rangers team before the 1993 one. Day of the Dumpster is classic and emotional and Alpha shouts ‘They’ve made it, they’ve made the metamorphosis!’ or whatever he said as the robot and Zordon are overcome with emotion. It doesn’t really make sense to add a team before the events of Day Of The Dumpster. Then there was also the wild west Rangers team as well, but that event ocurred after Day Of The Dumpster!!!
Season 2 of MMPR confirms there was a team during the Wild West Era
