New photos of the Zords from Lionsgate’s upcoming Power Rangers movie have surfaced!
The photos, released by Lionsgate, give fans a look at the Zords as part of the Power Rangers Movie: Zords Rising virtual reality simulator designed in partnership with Qualcomm. The simulator debuted in Las Vegas today as part of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
For fans, this is the first look at the prehistoric robots in non-toy form. And while not exactly in-film CGI, the photos at least take eager fans closer to the final product that will debut when the Power Rangers movie hits theaters on March 24, 2017.
In the images above, each of the Zords appear to carry within them a light blue aura, perhaps similar to the design for the Red Ranger’s Power Sword. Does this power have any connection to the Morphin Grid, the same blue light that fills the Rangers’ actual suits?
Attendees of (CES) who have the opportunity to try Qualcomm’s Power Rangers virtual reality simulator will start by entering the Command Center, where they are greeted by Alpha 5 and Bryan Cranston’s Zordon. From there, they are informed that the world is in great danger from an alien threat, and the fate of the world rests in the hands of the Power Rangers.
The closing of the dialogue prompts each of the five Zords to rise from underground, giving attendees the chance to pick one Zord and enter its cockpit. Inside, they are able to interact with the Zord’s monitors and controls, while being demonstrated to the Zord’s capabilities and power.
The power of the Zords has been a long-running staple in Power Rangers history, as each Zord is based on the prehistoric dino’s from the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers TV show. Each Ranger commands a Zord based on their respective dinosaur spirit, and together, can combine to form the mighty Megazord.

The Power Rangers movie’s version of the Megazord has only appeared in toy version thus far, and was not included as part of the virtual reality experience.
However, with the the Power Rangers movie beginning to trickle down its days until release, it remains only a matter of time until fans are treated to an official look at the Megazord and Zords in their final CGI glory.
