This just in: the infamous Burger Morpher from Japan’s Shuriken Sentai Ninninger will not be making its way to Power Rangers Ninja Steel.
The news was confirmed at Toy Fair 2017 in New York City. Taking its place will be a new Ninja Battle Morpher (the same morpher held by the other five Ninja Steel Rangers) designed in brand new colors. Fans can check out photos of the new Morpher at Toy Fair by clicking here.
For months, fans have speculated if the Burger Morpher would make its way overseas to be part of Power Rangers Ninja Steel. The controversial Morpher, used by the Gold Ranger to morph from civilian to Power Ranger, was seen by some fans as original and iconic. Yet by other fans, it was seen as childish and goofy. A cheeseburger that’s used to tap into the Morphin Grid, really?
It appears the latter have won the long-standing fan debate over whether the Burger Morpher should be adapted. The Gold Ninja Steel Ranger, who is expected to debut on TV in late March, will not harness the powers of a cheeseburger to morph. And fans longing for the tender, meaty crossover will have to settle for Ninninger’s version in Japan.
Aside from the Burger Morpher, the Gold Ninja Steel Ranger already sports other wacky features that stem from his Ninninger counterpart. The Ranger suit wears a poncho on his torso, features a helmet resembling a cowboy, and wields a weapon in the form of a guitar. How exactly will Power Rangers Ninja Steel manage to make sense of all the odd pieces? It remains to be seen when the Gold Ranger story arc begins on March 18 in the episode ‘Gold Rush’.
The first look at the brand new Morpher first came from MMPRToys.
Fans can catch Power Rangers Ninja Steel airing every Saturday at 12pm ET on Nickelodeon. Be sure to follow Power Rangers NOW on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates.
