Power Rangers: Shattered Grid, the ultimate crossover event from Saban Brands and BOOM! Studios, is getting intense!
The massive 25th Anniversary event is set to introduce new Rangers, new villains, and new mechanical twists on iconic heroes from Power Rangers’ past.
In Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers Issue #9, releasing in April 2018, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will meet a brand new Ranger – the Ranger Slayer, otherwise known as Kimberly Hart from Lord Drakkon’s twisted universe!
“It’s a new Ranger with a familiar face…They will arrive in a way that allows for a very personal relationship with all of the Rangers. With the first eight issues of Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers I’ve been trying to do very small, character-based stories. And I wanted to make sure that, for Shattered Grid, bringing in this new Ranger wouldn’t just mean that I would have to side-step all of the storylines that I’ve been building. What was great was, when we came up with who they are, they could be brought in in a way that actually propelled the personal stories in a way that actually made them better.” – Ryan Parrott, Writer, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers
The Ranger Slayer will wield her dangerous Bow of Darkness into battle.
Fans can see the Ranger Slayer in the main covers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #27 (art by Jamaal Campbell), and Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers Issue #9 (art by Dan Mora) – both of which are part of the Power Rangers: Shattered Grid event.
BOOM! Studios’ fun doesn’t stop there. Power Rangers: Shattered Grid will also introduce Finster Five, a brand new villain who will aide Lord Drakkon in his quest to defeat the Power Rangers.
Finster Five is a cyborg version of Finster, Rita Repulsa’s original right hand aide. After going through some traumatic life events, Finster was rebuilt by Lord Drakkon using recycled parts from Alpha 5 to create this brand new evildoer (seen below in concept art by Daniele Di Nicuolo).
“I pitched out the idea that Drakkon’s right-hand man would be a Finster who had clearly been through some life events, because he’s augmented with parts from Alpha Five. So he’s called Finster Five, and he’s basically a cyborg version of Finster. And the backstory there, of how that melding happened, was a lot of fun to build out. It gives Daniele Di Nicuolo something really interesting and unique to design.” – Kyle Higgins, Writer, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
As if one new villain stemming from a classic Power Rangers character wasn’t enough, Power Rangers: Shattered Grid will also introduce new Sentries based on characters from Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Samurai.
The Sentries are military-styled soldiers that carry out Lord Drakkon’s evil deeds. The Sentries come in high volume, and offer a heavyweight twist on classic Rangers suits. Seen below, fans can check out brand new Sentry designs coming soon for Power Rangers Zeo’s Green Ranger, and Power Rangers Samurai’s Blue Ranger.
“Saban’s Power Rangers has an incredible 25-year history that we use as a foundation when creating new content like our comic series with BOOM! Studios, but we always strive to build upon that core mythology and bring fans something new they’ve never seen before. For this Shattered Grid event, we are celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary with an epic story line and many compelling new characters. To do this, Saban Brands worked in lock step with BOOM! Studios and our talented writers and artists to bring to life a modern, sinister Ranger character whom our fans definitely won’t want to miss.” – Brian Casentini, Executive Producer, Power Rangers
Power Rangers: Shattered Grid will span across issues of BOOM! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers comics, and two special one-shot spinoffs. The story line will follow Lord Drakkon – who’s returned with a newly reformed deadly army that threatens the existence of every Power Ranger ever. In order to combat the threat, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will join forces with popular faces and teams from all across the franchise’s 25-year history in an event like never seen before.
Fans can check out the full checklist below to ensure they complete their Shattered Grid collections – kicking off in February 2018, and lasting until August 2018.

Who is the new ranger on power rangers shattered grid its must be revealed
I think it might be matt. Kim’s boyfriend.
It’s not Kim’s boyfriend, Matt. The shadowy red figure, that is obviously a Power Ranger, has a female body.
why not create own version of Power Rangers if got lots of idea…
might be aka red from super sentai.
It is probably not Aka Red, at least, not the same one from Super Sentai. That ranger is male. The ranger featured on the “Go, Go, Power Rangers” Issue #9 cover is clearly female.
I’m shocked you aren’t begging for another male pink ranger.
I like power rangers
Those new sentries look great. I hope they have sentries for every season.
If it runs until August then it can coincide perfectly with August 28 which is PR’s birthday.
Love booms PR comics.
Since we have an evil Tommy, it would only make sense that the new ranger is a good Rita.
